Designed to be part of the Boston Acoustics System 8000, this Micro 80pv powered subwoofer occupies a small footprint, the cabinet measuring only 10" in width and depth, and 19" in height. It is powered internally by a custom-equalized power amplifier to drive its 7" diameter copolymer cone bass driver with rubber surround, vented toward floor with twin flared augmenting ports. The "pv" subscript following the Micro80 model name denotes "PowerVent". It is designed to match with compact speakers in efficiency and with their typical bass roll-off below 150 Hz. Of course, the Boston Micro 80x are appropriate, and other speakers, such as the classic Realistic Minimus 7, will make an excellent match. The Level control will allow you to fine tune the balance of bass to the upper frequency bandwidth covered by your other speakers. Even if you are using this subwoofer with an amplifier or receiver lacking Subwoofer variable line level output, this subwoofer is provided stereo speaker level inputs to connect. The instruction manual describes the many ways the Micro 80pv can be connected with different types of amps/receivers, and you can read it if you Copy and Paste into your internet search browser Search field this partial URL: www.manualslib.com/manual/218421/Boston-Acoustics-System8000.html#manual I note that, of all the photos provided, none reveals how perfect is the condition of the top surface.
